Covid- 19 Visitor Guidelines

Update 19/07/21

England has now moved into Stage 4 of the Government's roadmap.

However, because we are unable to open windows to fully ventilate the museum we are asking visitors to kindly continue to cover their nose and mouth whilst in the building, to maintain social distancing when possible, and to continue giving way on stairs & in corridors.

From Wednesday 21 July our Research Room and archives will re-open, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday afternoons without the need for an appointment. Visitors wishing to access the collections in the Research Room will be required to wear a face covering.

Thank you for your consideration and understanding.

The following still applies:

  • visitors to the research room will need to wear a face mask or covering unless exempt.

  • When you visit the museum, the Track and trace QR codes will still be displayed and we encourage you to check-in

  • Numbers of visitors may be regulated as we can not ventilate the galleries. Therefore, visitors may have to queue

  • Hand sanitisers are being installed in the reception area for use before and after you enter the museum

  • A limited range of items will be available in the shop. Items touched by visitors but not purchased will be quarantined for 72 hours

  • Regular cleaning regimes are being introduced throughout the day

PLEASE DO NOT VISIT IF YOU FEEL UNWELL OR HAVE A TEMPERATURE, COUGH OR OTHER COVID-19 SYMPTOMS
