First World War Living History Day

Join us as we welcome the 10th Essex Regiment Living History group to Abbeyfields as they set up their authentic WWI camp for the day. Discover how life was for the British Tommy on the Flanders battlefields and learn all about the ‘newly formed’ Royal Flying Corps.

The star of the day will be the life size replica Nieuport 12 two-seater bi-plane and its crew. 

Programme for the Day

11am         Joining the Army followed by Meet the Tommy

12 noon     Royal Flying Corps

1pm           Food in the Field - feeding Tommy

1.30pm      Gas, Boys Gas! Or how to defeat the terror weapon

2pm           Royal Flying Corps (repeat)

2.30pm      Joining the Army and Meeting Tommy (repeat)

3.30pm      Stand Down parade

4pm           Finish
